Some parties have asked that the National Security Council (MKN) review the current dine-in policy that limits 2-people per table at eateries.
Social activist Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye has urged that this dine-in standard operating procedure (SOP) be expanded to allow family members to dine together at larger tables with physical distancing.
As much as we understand that the NSC has applied the 2-person per table rules, I hope they could review this, as there are bigger tables available, in which it could accommodate the families while also observing the compulsory 1-metre physical-distancing rules.

According to New Straits Times, he argues that allowing families of more than 2 people to sit together can help eateries earn more and keep their workers employed.
He points out that a 2-feet diameter table can accommodate two people, and the same can be applied to an 8-feet diameter table which can accommodate 8 people with physical distancing.
They faced shutdown and no-dining in before, and if the NSC could consider reviewing this particular rule and meet them halfway in terms of accommodating customers according to the table size, it would help them to regenerate their economy, especially in paying off their workers.

MKN allowed dining in to resume at restaurants during the Movement Control Order (MCO) from 10th February onwards.
According to Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, the updated standard operating procedure (SOP) was in line with the government’s concern towards Malaysian entrepreneurs who have been financially affected by the pandemic.
