Police managed to nab the motorists who escaped arrest in a runaway Proton Waja that rammed into traffic in Sungai Buloh, Selangor on Friday (26 February) afternoon.
Following a man hunt which ended in less than 24 hours, PDRM apprehended both the driver and the passenger of the vehicle seen in several videos which went viral.
Petaling Jaya Police Chief Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal identified the car’s driver as a 35-year-old man whom they arrested at a residence in Desa Aman, Cheras.
Police identified the other suspects (the car’s passenger) as a 40-year-old man called “Bob Mah Sing” who was later captured at a home in Shah Alam. Bob was said to have 14 prior drug-related records and six criminal charges.
Police also revealed that 1.7 grams of heroin was found in the car that was left by the suspects during their escape.
Viral chase
In a series of clips shared online, two uniformed officers were shown in a tense scene of the suspects fleeing arrest by driving their car into other vehicles at a red light. One officer was seen firing several shots at the car’s tyres before the suspects managed to force their way through the traffic.
The suspects later left their wrecked getaway car by the side of the road and apparently escaped on foot.
Police said that both suspects were being detained under remand as the investigation continues.
