Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob in a press conference with finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz today announced that Kedah, Terengganu, Pahang, Perak, and Perlis have reached the requirements to enter phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).
Now the NRP is measured at a state level and is based on a seven day average of Covid-19 cases, vaccination rate, and ICU capacity.
The new calculations are based on the original nationwide level NRP requirements multiplied by the population in a state divided by the population in the country.
Following the new requirements Perlis is already at the level of Phase 4, while Terengganu and Sabah are at Phase 3 levels. However, they will only enter Phase 2 on Monday.
In Phase 2, interstate and interdistrict travel are not allowed except for school teachers and exam-year students may travel. Long distance couples may only travel for emergencies and is subject to approval from PDRM.
Books and stationery stores, computer and telecommunications store, electric products stores, car washes, and hairdressers (for basic cuts only) are allowed to open as well.
All individual and non-physical contact sports and recreational activities are allowed and farmer’s market and morning markets gets extended hours (7am to 11am).
