Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba says that those who have completed the two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine may be given more leeway soon in a new guideline that is being drafted.

The new guideline will be presented at the National Security Special Council soon.

He added that the guideline is based on the best practices of other countries, such as the US, which has vaccinated more than 30% of its population. There, those who have completed their vaccination enjoyed certain benefits.

“Malaysia will also give some leeway to vaccine recipients who have completed two doses. However, we will ask public health experts to give their views, recommendations and present them in the NSC Special Session for reference before a decision is made,” said Dr Adham.

Earlier this month, Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin said that a guideline for those who have received both of their vaccination doses is being presented at the committee level.

He also said that the guideline is expected to be out in August.

Two days ago, Dr Adham and Khairy Jamaluddin were briefed by public health experts on the handling and benefits of vaccines during the Special Committee on Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV) meeting.
