Despite the youth-led #Lawan rally having been called off earlier this week, the site of the last protest by the coalition Sekretariat Solidariti Rakyat (SSR) on July 31, has been cordoned off.
Additionally, movement in and out of KL have been severely hindered by police presence, 88 road closures and roadblocks, and temporarily closed public transportation.

Netizens found the strong police presence quite surprising considering that they were not out in full force during the stringent lockdown phases to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic.

Many didn’t even realize that there will be roadblocks, expecting roads to be clear for the first weekend after KL & Selangor moved into Phase 2, which allows dine-in and other more social activities.
