Deputy Speaker Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said has come out asking fellow Deputy Speaker Datuk Rashid Hasnon about their meeting with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

She also asked if the other Deputy Speaker has read the letter to the Dewan Rakyat Speaker dated 9 August that was sent to the both of them, and then leaked online and spread on social media.

Rashid’s unsure if Art has received the letter

Rashid had said to The Vibes that any discussions regarding the Dewan Rakyat from the Agong should come from the Prime Minister and not the Speaker.

Based on the reports, he was unsure if Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun had even received the letter but if the latter did, it is unprecedented because Rashid said there hasn’t been any precedent where the Agong would directly go to the the Speaker.

Agong allegedly questions Mahiaddin’s legitimacy

MalaysiaKini reported that Istana Negara issued a letter to the Speaker to confirm on Prime Minister Tan Sri Mahiaddin Md Yasin’s support in Parliament.

The letter which has been circulating online was reportedly signed by the Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Ahmad Fadli Shamsuddin and was sent on 9 August.

It also stated that an official response was expected by 2pm on 10 August.
