The prices for Covid-19 self-test kits have been set to RM19.90 for retail and RM16.00 for wholesale starting 5 September, according to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs.
Previously, it was reported that the government are planning to make self-test kits a controlled item to ensure that it is sold at a reasonable price.
It’s a significant decrease from the RM39.90 price tag set earlier by the government, which was available for purchase via MySejahtera.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Khairy Jamaludin said that prices will go down even further in the future to help those who are financially disadvantaged.
We have set the ceiling price for COVID rapid test kits at RM19.90 for retail and RM16 for wholesale. We will also be exploring bulk purchase options to drive the price down further & also look at providing feee kits for B40 families. @KKMPutrajaya @kpdnhep
