There’s a new commercial airline in Malaysia and it’s named SKS Airways Sdn Bhd.

The airline was awarded the full Air Service License (ASL) by the Malaysian Aviation Commission effective 1 January 2022.

According to New Straits Times, an ASL is required to transport passengers, mail or cargo on a fixed schedule by air between two places as long as it falls within Malaysia’s borders.

An ASL is only issued to an applicant that holds a valid Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia, which SKS Airways received on 1 October 2021.

Director Datuk Rohman Ahmad said the obtainment of ASL means SKS Airways is now officially in business and is ready to launch flight operations.

SKS Airways is a subsidiary of SKS Group, a multi-disciplined organisation founded in 1983 with core businesses across property development, investment holding, hospitality and credit finance in Malaysia and Australia.

Where does SKS Airways fly to?

A quick browse on SKS Airways’ official website shows that there are currently flights to Pangkor, Tioman, Redang and Senai from Subang Airport.

Passengers will fly on DHC6-300 Twin-Otter aircraft with comfortable 19 seaters.

Since it’s a light aircraft meant for short-haul flights, there’s no lavatory onboard so remember to use the facilities at the airport before boarding your flight.

It’s definitely going to be a flight to remember when you go on holiday!
