A young man in his 20s attempted to jump off the iconic KL Tower to commit suicide.

The teen was going to jump from the Sky Deck of the tower when firefighters pulled him back.

The incident happened on Sunday (16 January) during the daytime.

The fire and rescue department’s operations center in Kuala Lumpur received information related to the incident at about 5.11 pm.

A total of 25 officers and members along with three vehicles from the Hang Tuah and Pudu Fire and Rescue Stations were deployed to the scene.

After rescuing the young man, they handed him to the police for further action.

Recordings of the suicide attempt were shared on social media by netizens.

Accordingly, it was the first time such an incident occurred at the iconic building, which stands at 421 m.

It is not clear why the young man chose to attempt suicide.

Whatever the reason, hopefully, the young man will not resort to self-harm in the future.
