A 40-year-old woman in Bachok, Kelantan, was issued a warning notice for hiding food in the bathroom and washing machine to be sold to non-fasting individuals on Sunday (26 March).

The Bachok Religious Office and District Council raided her house in Tangok between 10am and noon after officers got to know about a house selling food and drinks to people who are not fasting.

They found more than 20 packets of chicken rice hidden in the washing machine, marinated chicken in the toilet, and iced tea in the bedroom, Sinar Harian reported.

The woman admitted to packing the rice before buyers contacted her to collect the food. She had been selling food from home throughout Ramadan to people who were not fasting.

Bachok Religious Officer Suratemi Mat Yusof said the woman was given a warning notice to be counselled not to sell food during the day during Ramadan.

No arrests were made because the customers managed to escape when they realised the presence of authorities.

Some netizens expressed disgust when they found out the food was hidden in the bathroom.

Meanwhile, others also wondered if the religious authorities overstepped their boundaries in someone’s private home.
