Rejoice Malaysians as Anthony Loke has done it again!

In a statement shared on the Ministry of Transport’s (MOT) official Facebook page, Minister Antony Loke noted that Putrajaya has set a maximum one-way airfare of RM300 for the Kaamatan Festival and Gawai Day, not including taxes and fees.

As of 17 May 2023, Loke pointed out that a total of 17,708 tickets were still available for flights between Peninsular, Sabah and Sarawak.

He also added that the Cabinet had agreed for the government to implement flight ticket subsidies in conjunction with the Kaamatan Festival on 30 May and Gawai Day on 1 June.

Additionally, Loke noted that MOT has negotiated with airlines for a pilot program as well.

Loke said the purchase involves three days before and after the celebration dates of both festivals.

The government had purchased all tickets, and asked airlines to sell them back to the public at a maximum of RM300 or at the original price (if below RM300).

Adding on, Loke noted that the Ministry, together with Batik Air, will also provide a special charter flight which will fly once daily along the Johor Bahru-Sibu route, depending on demand.

Anthony said this is because tickets for that route 3 days before Gawai Day had been sold out.

The fixed pricing will begin from 12.01am, on May 20.

Are you taking this opportunity to fly back to the East this time around?
