On 6 May, a viral video allegedly showing a man getting ambushed by a group of thieves at Segambut KTM made the rounds online.

According to The Star, the police confirmed the video showed a robbery that happened last month in Brazil and not in Segambut.

Sentul OCPD Assistant Commissioner Beh Eng Lai advised the public not to easily believe or share unverified news to prevent causing alarm in the community.

Beh said stern action will be taken against individuals who violate the law.

What was shown in the video?

In the video, a man was seemingly using a ticket machine or ATM. While his attention was occupied, two men approached from behind and quickly removed his backpack.

When the victim fought back, four more men appeared to beat him up. One of the thieves looked like he held a knife and stabbed the victim a few times.

The victim stumbled over the automated barrier in an attempt to escape.

According to River City Post, the robbers were apprehended by the public and handed to the police.
