Over 1,000 Buddhist devotees from all over the region gathered at the tranquil Enlightened Heart Tibetan Buddhist Temple in Tambun, Perak.

They were there to celebrate Wesak and pay homage to Lord Buddha.

The event’s highlight was sunning a magnificent thangka, a canvas painting of Buddha, to receive special blessings from Lord Sakyamuni Buddha.

The 60-meter by 12-meter thangka was carried by worshippers, unrolled, and held head high to allow the devotees to walk under it and receive blessings and good luck for the coming year.

The sunning took place at about 1 pm, creating a serene atmosphere that enveloped the temple grounds.

The thangka was carried by worshippers, unrolled, and held head high to enable the devotees to walk under it and receive blessings and good luck for the coming year.

The sunning created a serene atmosphere that enveloped the temple grounds, and many devotees felt a sense of awe and reverence as they walked under the thangka.

The thangka is considered a sacred object representing Buddha’s teachings and presence in the world.

By walking under the thangka, devotees seek blessings and good luck from Lord Sakyamuni Buddha for the coming year.

Using vibrant colours and ornate designs adds to the thangka’s beauty and creates a sense of wonder and awe among those who behold it.

A Tranquil Oasis In Tambun

The Enlightened Heart Temple is the largest Tibetan Buddhist temple in Malaysia.

It boasts a peaceful complex of halls, gardens, and pagodas with countless statues of Buddha and other religious symbols.

One of the most remarkable sights at the temple is the Enlightened Heart Medicine Buddha Bhaishaya Guru Pagoda.

The pagoda stands tall at 72 meters and houses a colossal statue of the Shakyamuni Buddha.

The temple was founded by a local named Yong Si Fu, who became Ge Li Rinpoche after embracing Tibetan Buddhism.

From humble beginnings in 1976, the temple has grown to its present size, embodying the spirit of harmony and tranquillity that Buddhism espouses.

The Wesak celebration at the Enlightened Heart Temple attracted devotees from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, and Kedah.

Many devotees were seen carrying the Lord Sakyamuni Buddha or Lord Yellow Dzambhala idol on their backs.

The practice is believed to help rid oneself of bad karma and negative energy and bring good luck and prosperity.

Others lit oil lamps and offered prayers inside the temple halls.

The canvas painting depicted Buddha in all his radiance, emanating compassion and wisdom to all living beings.
