Malaysian are saying goodbye to their “feel good” channel when it was announced that ntv7 – a local free-to-air TV channel – will be taken over by the Education Ministry’s (MOE) edutainment TV network, DidikTV.

Starting 17 February 2021, “DidikTV KPM” will be broadcasted on the former ntv7 channel for 17 hours a day from 7am till midnight.

DidikTV is a channel made to provide access to quality education for students across the country following the Covid-19 pandemic and to supplement the Teaching and Learning at Home (PdPR) program.

DidikTV’s “Road To Success SPM 2020” program aired live on ntv7.

Programs on the channel are said to be designed specifically based on MOE’s curriculum with contents such as news, internationally made programs and content made by homegrown Malaysian students.

Several DidikTV shows that are currently on the air also witnessed educational programs being hosted by local teachers and being audited by students live through online classroom sessions.

Felt so good

A slight sombre mood falls on social media as Malaysians take a trip down memory lane to give one last send off to ntv7, a TV channel which has been on air since 1998.

Netizens collectively reminisce over shared nostalgia of growing up to their favourite local sitcoms like “Spana Jaya” or how they were introduced to the best TV contractor in Singapore, JB and some say Batam, “Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd” via ntv7

Others relished in moments of watching episodes of Bahasa Malaysia dubbed cartoons like “Doraemon” and “Crayon Shin-chan” as well as other once popular animated shows.

Some, like celebrity Sarimah Ibrahim, recall how ntv7 made not only her career but added enjoyable memories to her life.

TRP sends our own goodbye to ntv7, thanks for the memories and specifically for “Istana Takeshi“.
