LATEST UPDATE: The fire at the MidValley Megamall Shopping Centre happened at an external TNB substation of the MidValley City. The shopping mall’s management, in a statement on Facebook said the fire was contained by the Emergency Response Team.

“Members of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department arrived at the scene at 10.42am to subdue the fire,” the mall management informed.

The shopping mall is now closed until further notice. MidValley Megamall said no injuries or fatalities were reported.


A fire has broken out at the MidValley Megamall Shopping Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

Social media is being flooded with videos as the thick black smoke is visible from many angles, including the Federal Highway.

There is no information yet from the relevant authorities but the DBKL traffic information Twitter account reports that firemen are currently working to put the fire out.

Meanwhile, Golden Screen Cinemas shared on their social media page that screenings have been halted for today although the fire has not directly affected their outlet.

They informed that they were cooperating with local authorities and the mall’s management to ensure everyone’s safety.

Traffic around MidValley Megamall in KL, as observed at 11.30am, is all red following the fire. Plan your travels and avoid the area if you can.
